Who can apply?
Anyone aged over 18, who has good written and spoken English and who is motivated, easy-going and resourceful.
Before embarking on a LIVE Nepal project participants must ensure that they have full personal health insurance, all necessary inoculations, and a Nepal tourist visa for the time they will be in the country. Visas can be obtained by application to the Nepali Embassy in your country, or bought upon arrival in Nepal (subject to acceptance of your application).
How to apply
- Download the application form, or send an email or letter to Live Nepal to request a form by post.
- Return the completed application form along with your application fee and two passport photos of yourself to LIVE Nepal, 94 Leonard St, London EC2A 4RH at least 3 months before you wish to travel.
- Prior to applying please check that you are definitely able to travel on the requested dates and that all your practical questions and concerns have been addressed by LIVE Nepal.
- Before LIVE Nepal can set up a placement you will be required to attend an informal interview with a member of LIVE Nepal’s UK team, or to have a phone interview if it is not possible to meet in person. Please note that you may also be required to have a CRB test.
How much does it cost?
A registration fee of £20 is payable upon submission of your application. This is non-refundable, however it is a one-off payment and will not be required for future applications.
· Volunteer teaching placement setup fee (payable upon being accepted onto the scheme): £500
· Food and accommodation: £50 per month
· Additional activities (eg jungle safari, trekking, caving etc): Variable
What do I get for the fee?
· Volunteer placement arranged for a length of time that suits you
· Supportive advice and information from UK and Nepal support teams
· Accommodation arranged with a local family or institution
· An introductory orientation program including basic Nepali and skills and information relevant to your placement
· Food and transportation during the orientation program
· All administration costs, including visits to your placement by a resident LIVE Nepal team member
· Ongoing flexible support during your stay in Nepal
