This 1930’s home had undergone improvement since
it was built but the layout left a lot to be desired.
Upstairs
was fine except the third bedroom had been sacrificed to
make a large bath and shower room.
But downstairs the front
room had to be traversed diagonally to get to the kitchen
and loo and vice versa from the kitchen to the stairs.
And the front and rear elevations were DULL.
What the client wanted:
The client wanted more accommodation and a resolution to the

Proposed Loft Plan:
The appearance of the house has been transformed by the
smooth, painted render finish which covers the sad appearance
of the original brickwork.
and what they thought about it ...
...'We were most impressed with your solution. You have
made an advantage of the drawback of the front room being a through
room by making it open plan with the kitchen. And the garden
room at the back is just perfect-great outlook and, if we want,
quiet from the house. Your suggestion that it was possible to
use the loft was an unanticipated bonus. And the whole layout
now works so well. We now have a far more substantial house than
we thought was possible. A thousand thankyous!!'
